Ora Lee Blair Gentle

Ora Lee Gentle, 80, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Fayetteville, NC. She was born on May 8, 1933, in Knott County, KY. Her mother was Sabrina Blair and her father was Irvin Hall, both of KY. She was raised in KY by her maternal grandparents, John H. Blair and Lena Mullins Blair. She married Delano F. Gentle on September 28, 1955, after a short two week courtship. During her lifetime, she was a farm laborer, waitress, restaurateur, retailer, factory worker, and caregiver, but the career and position that gave her the most joy, and for which she was the most proud, was her CA Cosmetology license. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, her CB radio, and camping. After she retired, she and her husband were able to fulfill a lifetime dream of traveling the USA in their RV trailer for two full years before their health and age began to tell on them. She was preceded in death by: her parents and grandparents; her sister, Alice Lee Miller; her brother, Jerry W. Hall; and many of her aunts and uncles with whom she grew up, as well as many of her lifelong friends. She is survived by her husband, Delano F. Gentle, of the home; daughter, Nona Delleah Fisher, her husband, Fred L. Fisher of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Sabrina Bernice Parks, her husband, Garvin L. Parks of Jeffersonville, KY; daughter, Vonda Kay Damron, her husband, James C. Damron of Hope Mills, NC. Her grandchildren: David S. Fisher, Rebecca M. Lewis, Michelle Davis , Melanie Munday, Johnathan S. Parks, Jeremiah N. Parks, John Micheal Tew, Brittany N. Meeks, and Ashley E. Damron. Her great-grandchildren: Jordan L. Thomas, Jessica P. Thomas, Delano S. Fisher, Aedan C. Lewis, Echo T. Fisher; Courtnee P. Davis, Ashley N. Davis, Allison B. Munday, Matthew Jacob Munday, Caiden I. Parks, Presley J. Parks, Isaiah C. Parks, Hanna M. Taylor, and Darrell D. Taylor. Her surviving siblings are: Julian S. Hall and Harold E. Hall. The family would like to thank all of the nursing staff, support staff, and administration of Autumn Care of Fayetteville for everything they did for Ms. Gentle during her stay with them over the past four months. Their love and care was felt each day of her stay. There will be a private family service prior to cremation. The family will receive friends and neighbors on Saturday, Nov 9, 2013, at Cliffdale Community Church, 7763 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville, NC, 28314, 2:00-3:30 PM where a short memorial celebration service will be held.
