Retired Special Forces SGM Rudy A. Rodriguez, 81 of Lumber Bridge formerly of Fayetteville, peacefully passed away at his residence on December 16, 2014. SGM Rodriguez retired from the US Army after 30 years of service to our great country. During his career he served in Special Forces and was noted for fluently speaking 7 languages. He received numerous accolades: 2 Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars, he served 3 tours in Vietnam, and Legion of Merit. After he retired from the military he served the community and retired from the US Postal Service with 15 years’ service. He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church; this faithful servant will be greatly missed in our community by his family and colleagues. SGM Rodriguez was predeceased by his parents, former wife, Betty Rodriguez and brothers, Manuel & Henry Rodriguez. A mass will be held in his honor at 12 noon, Monday December 22nd in Good Shepherd Catholic Church 5050 Oak Street, Hope Mills, NC 28348. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 noon at the church prior to service. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. He is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his children, Rosa & Ed Bailey, Carolyn Jones, Eileen Andrews, Erica Luntz, John & Raegen Luntz; grandchildren, Selena & Damian Pedersen, Angela & David Crenshaw, Keri Steenrod & Michael San Miguel, Kristin Jones, Christopher Jones, Jared Luntz, Shawn Carter, Reggie Andrews; great-grandchildren, Synthia Rodgers, Sarah Rodgers, Kalie Steenrod, Ayden San Miguel, Savanna Steenrod, Cheyanne San Miguel, Stella Pedersen, Colin Crenshaw, and Rosalyn San Miguel; siblings, Merci Garcia, Mike Rodriguez, Luis Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Helen Vega, Roy Rodriguez, Rosie Molina, Carolyn Calley, and Esther Espinoza.
