Ruby Council Ruehle

August 6, 1956 - January 26, 2014

Mrs. Ruby Council Ruehle, 57, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, in White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 9724 N C Hwy 53 W in White Oak. Burial will follow in the John T. Council Cemetery at 8023 Burney Road, White Oak, across from Deserette. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7. Ruby was born on Sunday, August 6, 1956, in Bladen County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Ruby W. Council. She is survived by her husband Tim Ruehle whom she married on June 16, 1990. She is also survived by brother Bradley Council of White Oak and sisters Roxanne Council Rankin of White Oak, Linda Council Henschel of Clinton, and Mary Council Batten of Chadbourn. Ruby graduated from Tar Heel High School and attended Methodist University. She worked at Smith Co. Sales and Service, Glen's Nursery of Dublin, and the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier. She was a member of Tar Heel Quilters Guild and a very avid participant. Her favorites were crazy quilts in which she demonstrated her artistic creativity in her applique and stitches. She also taught chair caning at Fayetteville Technical Community College. She was an avid reader and passionate about her gardening and nurturing of her animals, which included horses, dogs, cats and chickens. Even her chickens had names. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either No Kill Animal Shelter, 400 Fulford-McMillan Road, Raeford, NC 28376 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center of Whiteville.
