Richard "Rick" Joseph Sauls Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard “Rick” Joseph Sauls, 63, of Whispering Pines, was granted his angel wings, Monday July 21, 2014, after battling cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was a U.S. Army veteran and he received the National Defense Service Metal and Expert M-16. He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge in Sanford. Rick was such a easy-going, kind person, with an awesome sense of humor. Besides making Kaye laugh and smile nonstop, Rick would say all through the day, “Have I told you today?” Kaye would say, “I think so but you can tell me again.” Rick would reply, “I love you.” Rick always said, “We can never tell people we love them too many times!” Rick was actively involved with softball for most of his life, playing on teams, coaching, or just watching his friends and family play. Rick was also an avid sports fan. Some of his favorite teams were the New York Yankees, Duke Blue Devils and the Dallas Cowboys. Rick loved traveling, camping, fishing, the movies. and after meeting his wife, Kaye, he became an eager adventurer. Rick and Kaye loved trying new foods, places, beverages, and no matter where they were, being together and happy was their ultimate goal! He is survived by his wife, Kaye Garner Sauls, of Whispering Pines; daughters, Kristy Sauls Hood, of Wendell, and Stormy Sauls Maynor, of Sanford; sisters, Kim Sauls Hewitt, of Carthage, Glenda Sauls Riggsbee, of Sanford and Linda Sauls Kauffman, of Sanford; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Waylon Perry Sauls; mother, Claire Agnes Bjorken Sauls; brothers, Eugene Gregory Sauls and Kenneth Edward Sauls. The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating.
