Edith Shirley Rutherford Hoffman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Fayetteville – Edith Shirley Rutherford Hoffman, age 89, of Fayetteville, passed into God’s Loving Arms on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Shirley was born November 19, 1926 into a military family and traveled to many places during her earlier years. She has resided in Fayetteville since 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. and Emma B. Rutherford, her brother Homer C. “Bud” Rutherford, and her husband, William A. Hoffman. Shirley served as church secretary at Haymount United Methodist Church and later at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. She was a long-time member of the Camp Ground United Methodist Church and an active member of their Golden Elite Club. She also spent several years volunteering with Meals on Wheels in the Fayetteville area. She is survived by her children, Vicky H. Morris (Bill), Terrill A. Hoffman (Roxanna), and W. Craig Hoffman (Margaret), her brother Billy E. Rutherford (Joyce), numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren and her friend, Robert Chaffin. She was a loving mother and friend. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Carillon Assisted Living, Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Autumn Care Nursing & Rehab, and Community Home Care & Hospice for the love and care shown to them during the past few months. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 4625 Camp Ground Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314 or the charity of one’s choice.
